The past 4 years I have worked on campus with Audio Visual services, running sound boards for bands and visual systems for a number of functions around Tufts. Reference upon request.
Volunteering with small groups of middle school students beginning on various instruments. Includes basic instruction, music appreciation, and building relationships with the young musicians.
As a part of the local music community, I have volunteered to fill-in parts for a number of orchestras, from the middle school, high school and semi-professional level.
Trying to teach 5 year olds how to play soccer is no easy feat. That being said, my 2 years coaching this group of kids was undoubtedly one of the more rewarding experiences I've had. We even won a couple games.
Thanks to Campus Movie Fest, I was provided a laptop and a camera for a week. Our first entry, Portrait of a Postman won the Tufts festival. Our second, Patron Addicted, won Tufts and Boston, and was selected along with 15 others out of the thousands entered to play at the National Grand Finale in NYC. Credits included Original Score and Screenplay, along with Animation.
Upset at the political apathy witnessed around my campus, I created and marketed an informative and unbiased site aimed at college students. While not comprehensive, the hope was that access to an easy to read explanation of issues and candidates would act as a jump-off point and inspire greater awareness of political issue and smarter voters. In the weeks up to Super Tuesday, the site was registering 2,000 hits daily.
While not an avid theater fan, I have enjoyed the various musical challenges inherent in playing in the live theater atmosphere.
For 4 years (save the semester abroad in Spain) I've played principle horn in the Tufts Symphony Orchestra. We have tackled a number of fantastic pieces, from Mozart to Shostakovich to Copland.
As much as I enjoy the Symphony Orchestra, weekly meetings with the Brass Quintet provide me with a more intimate atmosphere to create music with good friends.
Basic necessity and hours spent in an office environment have led me to a proficiency in many of the office applications - Word, Excel (Econ major), Powerpoint, Outlook and Frontpage.
Starting years ago, tinkering on a friend's copy, I fell in love with the immense power of Adobe Photoshop 6. Now, thanks to well-funded computer labs and jobs working design, I consider myself a very advanced Photoshop and Dreamweaver user, with very strong skills in Flash, Illustrator, InDesign and even Premiere. Examples can be seen in the Portfolios section.
Through personal websites and work related projects, my HTML, CSS, XML and XSL skills have become very strong. I have taken some web development courses, included Multimedia Web Development, and have worked a great deal with the more dynamic languages listed.
I have taken Spanish since second grade, but only began making real progress in college, especially during my semester abroad. I now can speak very comfortably,
This small private high school down the road from my New Hampshire home provided me with a strong education and a wealth of great memories with lifelong friends who I still see regularly.
My first years here were spent truly exploring the many possibilities of a liberal arts education. Now I have settled into a more concentrated study of international relations and economics. Highlights include: Financial Economics, Quantitative Econometric Analysis, Politics of the Middle East and more. Transcript available upon request.
I spent Fall of 2007 with a host family in Seville, studying at the Universidad de Sevilla. The couple that hosted me taught me a great deal, and not just in terms of learning the language. I took classes studying Europe's power dynamics in the 20th century, trade and colonization of the Americas, and modern Cinema.
Since 2007 I have been involved in a number of Guerilla Marketing campaigns for clients like Pepsi and Adidas. The campaigns are run on a local level, but directed from John Trepp's agency in NYC.
I spent Summer of 2007 with Next Gen Media in Allston, MA. Responsibilities included event marketing, promotion, and start-to-finish print/web/e-mail design projects. Samples are in the Portfolios section.
Summer of 2008 was spent at nSight in Burlington, MA, constructing as many as 3-4 web portals a day for various high-profile clients. Required a heavy use of HTML and CSS, as well as extensive Javascript and PHP. Reference upon request.
In the summer of 2007 I formed the company the PC Doctors to supplement my day job, so to speak. Along with some friends, we create websites for local businesses, offer print design services and offer technological support (both hardware and software).
Currently employed as a consultant with Arcadia Solutions in Burlington, MA. My current focus is in the Health Care field, providing diagnostic reporting software for electronic medical record databases. Recent tasks include support for the medical database and diagnostic software, as well as broader responsibilities responding to business needs and concerns of our clients.
