As part of the 2016 Arcadia Poster Series, I worked with my esteemed colleagues Luke Shulman and Michael Simon to analyze changes in costs and frequency of common drug prescriptions over a 5-year timeframe. The results are upsetting, if predictable. Costs of drugs are increasing faster than inflation. Many common drugs that have been around for decades have seen significant hikes. New promising drugs for Hepatitis C and HIV remain out of reach, costing tens of thousands of dollars per year.
